A few tips to keep the holiday crunch from really putting a squeeze on you.
When clients are happy, you're happy. Make the busiest time of the year a joy for all with these easy-to-do tips from your Creative Connection Trendspotters.
1. Busy Days.
When the appointment book starts filling up, start a holiday book. List clients desperate for appointments, the days they're free to come in, and the services they want. When you get a cancellation, use the book to fill the spot.
2. Double Check...Always.
Holiday appointment books are so packed, it's good business to call clients the day before to confirm.
3. Pack 'em in.
Send flyers to local businesses promoting services for their employees and listing gift certificate options. Be sure to include possibilities for men, too. This is a great way to build after-holiday business.
4. Give Back.
Start a holiday toy box. Encourage clients to bring in inexpensive toys for needy kids. Donate the box to a local charity.
5. Reward Big Spenders.
When a client spends a bundle on services (say $125 or more), offer hair care products at a special holiday price. This is a great way to boost salon retail sales and tempt clients to stock up on stocking-stuffer gifts.
6. Tasty Client Gift.
Create a Salon Favorites recipe book. Just ask each staff member to contribute one favorite holiday recipe and sign the page with a holiday wish for clients. Make colorful copies at a local quick-printer. Then wrap in joyful paper and give to each client.
7. Look Ahead.
February is traditionally a slump month, when clients' holiday bills start rolling in. Fight appointment fallout by promoting special prices every Tuesday and Wednesday in February.
