Turn Red Color To Green $$

What's the color of money? Red, of course.

All across the nation, colorists are reporting increased business from today's red craze. Reds can be formulated to shampoo out in just a few shampoos - or to last permanently. And, even with the best technologies, red shades tend to fade faster, so your clients will want extra appointments to keep their color vibrant and rich.

Who's turning red these days? Everybody.

There are red shades available for every skin tone. Your skin has creamy undertones? Then stay warm with copper or golden reds. Less yellow in your skin? Cooler reds are the way to go. (Berry or wine tones are good examples.) With deep skin tones, go deep and stay cool. And experiment with the extremes of light and warmth for lighter skin tones. With individuality being the hot ticket this spring, let your client's personality clue you in to the perfect red. For example, an outgoing, expansive and somewhat daring personality can pull off bright, true reds. Ultimately, your clients and you can discover the shade that's right for them.

Create natural-looking red for a first-timer.

Lighten the natural haircolor with a Level 6-Ash based haircolor (such as Complements Permanent 6A-Dark Ash Blonde) all over the head. Process for 15-20 minutes to softly lighten. Rinse. Then use a non-ammonia color with a red base, such as Second Nature 141RO. Apply all over and let process for 20 minutes.

Yes, even gray hair can go red. Just keep it soft.

To keep red from going too bright, buffer the red haircolor formula with 1/2 to 1 oz. of a neutral shade. The result will be a softer red tone that's more flattering to the client. Refresh browned-out reds. Over time, reds can "brown-out," and become less vibrant. To remove excess color buildup, give hair a "gel bath." Mix Complements Lightening Gel, plus 20-volume Clairol Professional Developer (no activators) with shampoo. Work through the mid-shaft and ends. Process 8 to 12 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Proceed with a non-ammonia red color over the refreshed hair. Process 10 to 15 minutes.
